From the host that brought you sold-out evenings of Joni Mitchell, Carole King, Simon & Garfunkel, and CSNY, come celebrate one of the most influential British rock groups of all time: The Kinks! Featuring a mix of Capital Region’s premier singers and musicians for this very special tribute, with performances by The Abyssmals, Super 400, Chris Carey, Mike O’Donnell, and Raurri Jennings. Produced by A Zan Strumfeld Show.

Chris Carey
Chris Carey is a native of New York's Capital Region. A born musician, he grew up playing any instrument within reach (or turning any random object into one). He has spent the last two-plus decades in many different musical roles. These include session musician/sideman to several local greats including Super 400 and Sean Rowe, engineer and producer at his Millstone Studio in Saratoga Springs, solo artist/songwriter, educator at Troy Music Academy and co-frontman of local folk-rock favorites Rodeo Barons.

The Abyssmals
Every neighborhood has its freaks and The Abyssmals are the ones in your very own backyard. Formed in 2017, The Abyssmals have been the slimiest purveyors of garage-psych cacophony on stages local and across the northeast, as well as occasionally haunting our television screens as the ambient music of various seedy bar scenes in shows like Shameless, The Punisher, and yes, even Grey’s Anatomy. Talking heads have likened their sound to acts like The Cramps, The Velvet Underground, The Black Angels, The Pretty Things, The Brian Jonestown Massacre, and Captain and Tennille. Their debut full length, ‘Gospels, Hymns and Other Trash!” was released in 2019 and a follow-up is slated for 2026. Look out! 2026 is for the abyss!

Mike O’Donnell:
With his roots firmly planted in the bedrock of the independent scene, Mike O’Donnell offers a guide to the sonic galaxy beyond his humble upstate New York beginnings. Mike has been a member of Saratoga’s own Rodeo Barons for over a decade and his recent project, Motorbike, has made quite a splash. Their 2019 release, “Victory Lap,” features a roster including Wreckless Eric and local native Chris Carey.

Raurri Jennings
There are two sides to Raurri Jennings. He is a librarian by trade who spends his days in the scriptorium quietly putting things in order; but if you put him on a stage with a guitar, you better watch out. As the frontman of the psychedelic rock band, Front Biz, Raurri has lit up the stages of Tulip Fest and Pearl Palooza with his dynamic voice and fiery guitar licks. When he starts cooking, the cardigan comes off and the volume is set to 11.

Super 400
In 1996, three musicians in a Troy, NY warehouse—Joe Daley (drums), Kenny Hohman (guitar, vocals), and Lori Friday (bass, keys)—plugged in and became Super 400, a heavy, soulful power trio carrying the spirit of the ’60s and ’70s into the present with interstellar musical chemistry. Their legendary live shows have sparked bootlegs and word-of-mouth across the U.S. and Europe, leading to sold-out tours and fans singing along like they’ve known the songs forever. Hailed at home with two official “Super 400 Day” proclamations (2006 and 2024) from the City of Troy and inducted into the Capital Region Eddies Music Hall of Fame, the band has also been named Pop/Rock Artist of the Year (2022, 2023) and Rock Artist of the Year (2025). For Super 400, though, the heart of it never changes: three friends in a room, plugged in, chasing the next sound.

Zan Strumfeld
Zan Strumfeld leads Zan & The Winter Folk, an Americana/folk band from Troy, NY. The Winter Folk released their first full-length album, "New Morse Code," in June 2024, and in 2025, the band won two Capital Region Thomas Edison (The Eddies) Awards -- Album of the Year and Americana Band of the Year. Zan produces music events under “A Zan Strumfeld Show,” where she focuses on showcasing the area's extraordinary local talent through unique productions, including sold-out tributes to Joni Mitchell, Carole King, Simon & Garfunkel, CSNY, and three “Ooky Spooky Musical Showcases,” where local musicians write songs about the area’s creepy past.
